Welcome to Q Bay monthly Mentor Series of September!

This time we invited Dr. Gang Luo, an associate professor of ophthalmology from Harvard Medical School, and an associate scientist at the Scheppens Eye and Ear Institute in Massachusetts, to dissect the future of human vision and machine vision technology in depth.

We will take you to gain insights from basic research and development to technology commercialization, seeing the “light” of the visually impaired. Speaker Introduction

Dr. Luo’s past experience as a research engineer, including his work with optics, image processing, and biomedical engineering, has influenced his interest in the mechanisms of the human visual system.

At Schepens Eye Research Institute of Mass. Eye and Ear, he studies assistive technology for individuals with visual impairments.

His current research includes the development of portable collision warning devices, including smartphone-based technologies, to improve walking mobility. He also studies driving behaviors in individuals with visual impairments.
